2015 LED light source market will reach 12 billion euros

According to Taiwan’s Digitimes, from 2010 to 2015, the annual growth rate of the global lighting market will grow at a rate of 7%-9%, and has reached 80 billion euros (approximately US$109.63 billion), among which Asian emerging markets and LED lighting is the main driving force. According to Nigel D'Acre, Director of Philips Lighting's regional business, in 2015, the LED light source market (including bulbs and light bars) will reach 12 billion euros, and the LED lighting market will reach 30 billion euros.

According to Philips' forecast, the LED lighting market will account for about half of the global lighting market in 2015 and will reach 75% by 2020.

In 2015, Philips aims to maintain its global lighting leadership. Philips believes that the key is to focus on the company's LED light source solutions and traditional lighting sales network management. Philips Lighting's operating goal is to achieve 12-14% of pretax profit, interest and amortization. The company will invest 5% of its annual income as R&D expenditure, and LED digitization will account for 75% of the total. In 2010 and 2009, the investment was 65% and 57% respectively.

Mr. Nigel D'Acre also stated that the LED market in Asia has great potential. The annual growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) has reached 8-10% of the average level, and the population, urbanization and infrastructure Improvements are very rapid. According to the company's latest results, at present, emerging markets account for 33% of the total revenue of Philips Group, and lighting business revenue is about 38%.

With the growth of the LED lighting market, lighting companies increased by 37% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2010, with an annual growth rate of 9%.
