Special cable tends to standardize development

In recent years, the optical fiber composite phase line has begun to be applied in China. Some domestic manufacturers have also developed optical fiber composite phase line products, and operate on a small amount of 10 kV and 35 kV lines, and they are currently starting to be applied on 110 kV lines. However, at present, both domestic and overseas optical fiber composite phase lines are generally designed and tested in accordance with the standards of conductors and fiber-optic hybrid overhead ground wires (OPGW). There is no authoritative national or industry standard for design, construction, quality inspection, and delivery. Inspections and other aspects have not been uniformly standardized.

With the progress of the society, the development of power grids in the future will generally develop in the direction of high voltage and large capacity. Special cable structures must meet the advanced nature, applicability, and reliability requirements of different voltage level conditions. Standards and revisions should take into consideration the opinions of the departments of operation, research, design, and manufacturing, taking into consideration the needs of design, construction, maintenance, and manufacturing, and fully reflect scientificity and rationality. The revision of the standard must take into account the safety and reliability of the system as well as conservation of resources and environmental friendliness to form a feasible and scientifically rigorous and complete and comprehensive standardization system. The standardization work must also adapt to the development of special optical cables, establish and improve the standardization system. In particular, UHV lines have large capacity, long distances, and a more complex environment. This requires that the standard can be adapted to the requirements of the UHV environment.

The development of special optical cables in the power system is rapid. About 100,000 kilometers of special optical fiber lines are put into construction every year. UHV AC and DC demonstration projects have adopted fiber-optic composite overhead ground lines. The performance and quality of special optical cables are directly related to the safe and stable operation of the power grid. However, due to the relatively short application time of special optical cable products in China, the number and types of standards cannot meet the current needs of production and operation. There are still deficiencies in the standardization work of China's special optical cable.

Special optical cables and their mounting accessories (gold fittings, joint boxes, etc.) have not yet formed a complete standardized system from design, production, testing and testing to project bidding, construction, and acceptance. Zhu Aijing in the industry believes that the domestic special optical cable types are complex, and the types of special cables for each line or even the same voltage level are different, and no relatively uniform spectrum is formed. This is not conducive to the design, production, maintenance, and deployment of the project, resulting in high design, production, and engineering costs. It also causes inconvenience and waste in the construction of the project.

The UHV AC and DC demonstration lines have already been put into operation and will soon be put into operation. It is necessary to formulate corresponding design, production and operation standards for UHV projects in the future on the basis of actual operation. Should increase the investment in the basic research field of special optical cables to meet the needs of new technologies, new varieties, new products and solutions to new problems in special optical cables. To adapt to the needs of the rapid development of special optical cables, the UHV AC and DC research will be taken as an opportunity.
