Hibino has developed an LED display that supports three-dimensional (3D) display. Including the LED equivalent to one pixel with "the smallest spacing in the LED display industry" - "ChromaLED 3D4" arranged at 4mm pitch, and "ChromaLED 3D6" with 6mm pitch (Figure 1, Figure 2). The "point-to-point" mode in which the left-eye video signal and the right-eye video signal are alternately arranged at every other point (Fig. 3) is used. Each point is equipped with a circular polarizing filter, and stereoscopic images can be viewed after wearing passive circular polarizing glasses. It is mainly used for 3D video viewing of venues, museums, theme parks, and public viewing rooms (Public Viewing).

Previously, as an LED display that supports 3D display, Hibino has been developing products that support the "Line-By-Line" method. The Line-By-Line method refers to the way of configuring the left-eye and right-eye images alternately every other line. However, compared with the two-dimensional (2D) display, the resolution in the vertical direction is halved, resulting in a decrease in the sharpness of the image, for example, there is a problem that the line extending in the oblique direction cannot be clearly displayed. According to Hibino, in order to alleviate these problems, the replacement is a peer-to-peer approach. In the point-to-point mode, although the resolution in both the horizontal direction and the vertical direction is reduced by about 30%, the resolution is lowered while ensuring uniform resolution, so that a more comfortable stereoscopic image can be viewed. According to Hibino, in order to increase the viewing angle when using the point-to-point method, the company improved the method of covering circular polarizing filters at various points.

Whether the 4mm pitch product has been put into production has not yet been determined, but the 6mm pitch product has been sold since November 22, 2010. At the press conference held on the same day, Hibino disclosed a 76-inch LED display and a 280-inch LED display in terms of 6mm pitch products, and disclosed their respective 3D image display effects.
The 7-inch pitch 76-inch LED display has a pixel size of 384 x 288 and a picture aspect ratio of 4:3 (Fig. 4). The screen brightness was 510 cd/m2, and the power consumption when all white light was emitted was 2.8 kW. The size of the casing is 1536 mm wide x 1152 mm high x 210 mm thick.

The 6mm pitch 280-inch LED display has 1024 x 576 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The picture brightness is 730 cd/m2. Hibino consists of 8 columns in the horizontal direction, 6 columns in the vertical direction, and a total of 48 38-inch modules in units of 128 × 96 pixels, forming a 280-inch product. Depending on the application, it can also form a 520-inch full HD display. For 2D display applications, Hibino has sold 2,300 6mm pitch LED displays in 128x96 pixels worldwide (as of November 2010).
The development of this product - 4mm pitch products and 6mm pitch products that have been sold are all LED display, 3D format converter "IF-FC1000H" for 3D format conversion and zooming, and can convert 2D images to 3D The image device "IF-2D3D1" is constructed (Fig. 5). IF-FC1000H commissioned Japan JVC and Video Technology (Video-tech) for development. Japan JVC has launched IF-2D3D1 in 2010.
JVC Kenwood Holdings, which owns Japan's JVC and video technology, announced its strategic cooperation with Hibino in September 2010. The development of the 3D display system is part of the cooperation plan. The Hibino LED display system represented by the LED display that supports the 3D display will be combined with JVC Kenwood's imaging system and will be sold by JVC Kenwood Holdings.
