LCD monitor maker LG Display Co. said on December 21 that it has developed a liquid crystal display panel with a thickness of only 2.6 mm.
LG Display said in a statement that the company's thinnest LCD TV panel to date also has an LED backlight . The 42-inch panel weighs no more than 4 kg.
In May, the tablet maker introduced 42-inch and 47-inch LCD TV panels with a thickness of 5.9 mm.
Chung In-jae, CTO and Executive Vice President of LG Display, said, "We will continue our R&D activities to provide our customers and markets with the differentiated products they desire."
LG Display will showcase the product and its new display technology at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 6th to 9th, 2010.
