New RS-232 Isolator Enables Multiple RS232 Multiprocessor Communication


The Bosch BS4232 1- to 4-channel RS232 isolator not only achieves isolation between RS232, but also enables RS232 and 4-way RS232 communication. The most critical is that no power supply is needed.


An ordinary RS232 isolator can only achieve the isolation between one RS232 and one RS232, and the traditional RS232 cannot implement one-to-multiple multi-machine communication. In order to solve the problem of RS232 multi-machine communication, it is usually first converted to RS485, and then the RS485 signals are connected in parallel. In this way, not only the wiring is complicated, but also the cost is high, and it is difficult to achieve isolation between them. Although the communication distance of RS232 is only up to 15 meters, it is sufficient if the nodes are indoors or in a cabinet. More than 15 meters can also be connected with RS232/485 converter.

Use BS4232 to connect one RS232 host computer (DB9 hole) and four RS232 lower computers (DB9 pins). Communication software is the same as RS485 multi-computer communication software. The isolation voltage is 2500V and the communication rate is 28800bps. Functionally speaking, a BS4232 is equivalent to 5 isolated RS232/RS485 converters and their power supply and wiring. BS4232 is also equivalent to a 1 spread 4 RS232 expander, but the lower computer must have an address.


Because the BS 4232 is bidirectionally isolated and has bi-directional communication functions, it can also implement communication between multiple RS232 PCs and one RS232 subordinate machine and is isolated. For example, if multiple computers use one RS232 serial printer in common, but use it at different time periods, then using a BS4232 can solve the problem.
