As soon as I stopped paying attention, the Kindle Oasis in my hands had already been in use for nearly a year. Throughout this time, it hasn't just been my companion during the daily hustle and bustle of my subway commute; it's also been my constant partner on lazy afternoons lounging on the sun lounger after work. If I were to describe my feelings towards the Kindle Oasis with an idiom, it would definitely be "hard to put down."
Right now, there's a certain charm to its age. As someone who started with the first-generation Kindle Paperwhite, I’ve always been interested in the evolution of Kindle technology. Personally, I believe that removing physical buttons in favor of a touchscreen interface isn’t necessarily a great move. Whenever you interact with the screen, there’s always that hesitation—will it register or not? That minimal delay might not seem significant, but when you're fully immersed in a book or a novel, it can disrupt the entire reading experience. I experienced this when I switched between the Kindle Paperwhite and my friend's older Kindle 5. Flipping pages felt more like breaking concentration than continuing a seamless flow of thought. If it weren’t for the backlight feature on the Paperwhite, I probably would have switched entirely.
With each new Kindle release, I didn’t see the return of physical buttons that I had hoped for, so I decided to skip upgrading to newer Paperwhite models. But last year, Amazon introduced a new product line: the Kindle Oasis. Finally, physical buttons were back, and I was thrilled—though admittedly, the price tag was equally exciting.
After some internal debate and a visit to the store to feel the device in person, I eventually purchased the Kindle Oasis. I bought it at Suning Tesco for the original price of 2399 yuan using an interest-free installment plan over 12 months. Recently, though, I learned that the Kindle Oasis has been discontinued. I hope Amazon continues to offer updates to this series and maybe even considers a price reduction instead of discontinuing it altogether.
It’s been almost a year since I bought it, and I’ve taken quite a few pictures to document its journey:

The Kindle Oasis 6-inch e-book reader (512MB, 4G, 1440×1080, parchment brown) costs 2399 yuan at Suning Tesco.
One of the best features of the Kindle Oasis is the return of physical buttons, which has significantly improved my reading experience. My usual grip looks something like this:

Unlike the Kindle Paperwhite, where I’d have to stretch my thumb across the screen to turn pages, the Oasis allows me to keep my thumb on the side of the device. This makes handling the device much easier, especially during long reading sessions. The design solves the fatigue issue perfectly—no longer do I have to strain my hand and mind to turn pages manually. Kudos to the designers!
Another standout feature is the separate leather cover with its own battery. In the past, protecting the delicate e-ink screen meant carrying a bulky case, which wasn’t very portable. Holding it for extended periods could get uncomfortable, and turning pages required awkward finger movements. The Kindle Oasis solves this beautifully: the magnetic attachment between the cover and the device is both functional and practical. When you’re not reading, the cover protects the screen and charges the device. When you’re ready to read, simply detach the cover and enjoy the full functionality of the Oasis.
In terms of battery life, the Kindle Oasis is unmatched. Unlike constantly charging my phone, the Kindle Oasis seems to last forever. The built-in battery alone is sufficient for weeks of reading, and the additional battery in the cover ensures uninterrupted use. I once considered testing the battery life but gave up because I kept forgetting to check—it was just that reliable.
To summarize, the Kindle Oasis can be described as Amazon’s top-tier offering in the e-reader market, and naturally, its price reflects that. For avid e-book enthusiasts, this is truly a must-have device. Once you dive into the world of literature, you won’t regret spending 2399 yuan on this device. Compared to other e-readers, the Kindle Oasis stands out as nearly flawless. In one sentence: This product is simply incredible! You’ll need to save up to buy it, but it’s worth every penny.
