Second-tier brand competition effect LED bulb prices gradually fall

LEDinside, an LED industry research institute, pointed out that the market exposure of LED lighting products has increased significantly. Take the Chinese market as an example. In May 2011, the number of LED bulbs on the Taobao Road was very small, but the number began to increase rapidly in June 2011. In July, there were even thousands of LED bulbs. The merchandise is sold on it.

LEDinside recently investigated the retail price of warm white LED bulbs used to replace traditional 40W and 60W incandescent bulbs in major global markets. The survey results show that the average retail price of LED bulbs replacing traditional 40W incandescent bulbs came to US$24 in July. In June, it fell by 2%; the average retail price that replaced the traditional 60W incandescent lamp came to 45 US dollars, also fell 6% compared to June.

In terms of regional markets, LEDinside said that in July 2011 prices, the most significant price drop was in Europe, where the average price fell more than 2 digits; the reason for the decline was in addition to exchange rate factors and the original brand manufacturers The slightest adjustment in product prices, among which the most important factor is the impact of new products from second-tier brands, making the average price drop significantly.

Secondly, the market with a sharper price decline is Japan. The average price of local LED bulbs has dropped by about 5%, followed by the US market. As for the South Korean market, LED bulb prices have remained flat.

The average retail price of LED bulbs used to replace traditional 60W incandescent bulbs is US$45, and its unit price is also down 6% from June. The most obvious price drop was in Japan, where the average price dropped by about 7%. Although the average price of 45 US dollars is more expensive for many consumers, but there are already more LED bulb products available in the market at an acceptable price to increase consumer's selectivity, but the quality of its products still needs time to test. Specifications have not yet been accurately and standardized.

LEDinside pointed out that as the price of LED bulbs continues to decline, the price per 1000 lumens of luminous flux also follows a steady decline. Instead of the traditional 40W incandescent LED bulbs, the average price per 1,000 lumens in July is 52 US dollars; and replace the traditional 60W incandescent LED bulbs, the average price per thousand lumens is 55 US dollars.
