Kingston executives: PC memory demand is weak? Cloud computing to fill According to Taiwan’s “Electronic Times” report, Kingston’s co-founder Du Jichuan stated that although the PC market has extremely low demand for memory, orders for DRAM in cloud computing applications are sufficient to compensate for the reduction in revenues of various manufacturers. And, the three major product lines of server memory, SSD and eMMC mobile storage are expected to have significant revenue growth in 2012.

Du Jichuan said that to play with cloud computing, enterprises need to use a large number of workstations and servers to build data centers, which brings a large number of servers with memory orders. He also pointed out that while Kingston sells server memory for business users, it also provides a variety of storage products related to cloud computing applications, corresponding to a range of devices. Such as smart phones built-in eMMC memory chips and tablet PCs, e-book readers and GPS devices used in the SSD.

Kingston expects that in 2011, the company will increase 50%, 15%, and 133% of its memory, U-disk and other devices, and SSD shipments in 2010 compared to 2010 respectively. Du Jichuan said Kingston's mainland market's memory shipments in the first three quarters were roughly distributed: 84% desktops, 11% notebooks, and 5% servers.
