On March 18, according to the German Golem.de website, Intel's next-generation 64-bit mobile chip will have a system lock function. Specifically, if the user wants to replace the built-in Intel 64-bit chip phone initial system, some important functions of the phone may be blocked.
Frank Kuyper, Intel's technical account manager, said in an interview that the company's next-generation Merrifield 64-bit mobile chip will add a new feature called "hook", a new feature such as detecting device installations. The new system will block some phone features.
Kapper said that Intel's mobile chip can detect whether Android users have replaced their original Android system with other versions, or replaced them with another completely different system, and automatically blocked the default features in the phone.
For example, if a user owns an Android phone with an Intel Merrifield mobile chip, he wants to install CyanogenMod RoM in order to make the device run faster and safer. That user may face the risk of losing some of the phone's features, such as LTE/UMTS, email acceptance, and so on.
Kapper said that Intel's 64-bit system can detect new software installed in the phone and treat it as a "risk" factor, while blocking certain system features until the user switches the system back to the original version.
This new technology may be used in Intel products starting in 2014. However, it is still unclear whether Intel is blacklisted for Android or other mobile platforms.
Given that Intel does not currently have a dominant market position in the mobile chip market, this is surprising. Doesn't Intel want to sell more mobile chips to Android devices? For this reason, we can't find a reason to block Android.
