NPD, the US market research agency, pointed out yesterday (3rd) that as consumers switch to new products like the iPad, it is expected that before 2016, consumers of tablet computers will surpass laptops.
The study pointed out that in the next few years, the tablet computer will be the "driver of growth" in the mobile computer market.
According to the study, orders for mobile personal computers, including tablet computers, will increase from 43,7 million this year to over 890 million by 2017.
The order quantity of notebook computers is expected to increase from 280 million this year to 393 million in 2017. The price of tablet computers will increase from 121 million this year to 416 million in 2017.
The study pointed out that the main kinetic energy for the growth of tablet computers comes from North America, Japan and Western Europe, accounting for 66% of orders this year, and will remain at 60% in the next few years.
