Yesterday, a customer from Chongqing called Mr. Qian to inquire about the storage of ELISA kits during the hot summer. He ordered two boxes of 96T Mouse IL-6 ELISA kits and expects to test around 100 samples. He asked how to properly store the remaining ELISA reagents in such high temperatures. Here, Hengyuan provides some essential tips for storing ELISA kits in the summer season.
Here are some key storage guidelines:
- Storage Temperature: -20°C for long-term storage; 2–8°C for frequent use.
- When taking ELISA kits out of the refrigerator, allow them to reach room temperature for 15–30 minutes before use. If the coated plates are not fully used, store the remaining strips in a sealed bag.
- Concentrated washing solution may crystallize. If this happens, warm it in a water bath to dissolve before use. This won't affect the final results.
- Always run a standard curve with duplicates for each test. If the sample concentration is too high (OD value higher than the first standard well), dilute the sample with sample diluent first, then proceed with the test. Remember to multiply the final result by the dilution factor.
- Use a pipette for all additions and ensure its accuracy. Try to complete the addition within 5 minutes. For multiple samples, consider using a multi-channel pipette to improve efficiency.
- Store the substrate in the dark to maintain its stability.
- Use a new sealing film for each plate to prevent cross-contamination.
