Yesterday, a customer from Chongqing called our manager Qian to ask about the storage of ELISA kits during the hot summer. He had ordered two boxes of 96T Mouse IL-6 ELISA kits, and he needed to test around 100 samples. The question was how to properly store the remaining reagents in such high temperatures. Here, Hengyuan would like to share some essential tips for storing ELISA kits during the summer season.

Here are the key points:

• Storage temperature: -20°C for long-term storage; 2–8°C for frequent use.
• When taking ELISA kits out of the refrigerator, allow them to reach room temperature for 15–30 minutes before use. If the coated plates are not fully used, store the remaining strips in a sealed bag.
• Concentrated washing solution may crystallize. If this happens, warm it in a water bath before dilution. This won't affect the results during the washing step.
• It's recommended to perform standard curves each time you conduct an experiment, and make duplicate measurements if possible. If the sample's target substance concentration is too high (OD value exceeds that of the first standard well), dilute the sample with the sample diluent first (n times) before testing. Multiply the final result by the total dilution factor (×n×5).
• Use a pipette for all additions and ensure its accuracy regularly to avoid experimental errors. Try to complete the addition within 5 minutes. If many samples are being tested, consider using a multi-channel pipette for efficiency.
• Substrates should be stored away from light.
• The sealing film is for one-time use only to prevent cross-contamination.
