In June, the United States’ 40-watt LED bulb fell below US$10 for the first time

Survey shows that in June 2012, the global retail price of LED bulbs showed a slight downward trend. In lieu of 40-watt incandescent bulbs, the global average price fell by approximately 4.5%, the international average selling price reached US$19.9, and the main price declines were in the United States and Germany. In lieu of the 60-watt incandescent bulb, the price of light bulbs in June fell slightly by 2.3%, and commodity prices in all regions showed a steady downward trend.

The United States is the relatively large price change in June 2012. In which 40-watt LED bulbs were replaced, the lowest retail prices in the United States and South Korea were all lower than US$10. In place of the 60W commodity segment, the lowest price in the United States fell below US$20 for the first time, and became the most price-advantaged region outside Korea. The prices of original commodities in various regions remained stable or showed a slight downward trend. The number of newly added items was small. The average price of 40 watts of goods replaced by the United States and Germany showed a decrease of approximately 10.7% and 9.6%, respectively, and the prices of the original commodities in both regions were steadily declining, and the market competition was intensified. Among them, the lowest price in the United States reached US$9.9, which fell below US$10 for the first time, making it the second region after South Korea that replaced the traditional 40-watt LED bulb retail price below US$10. Even the first-line lighting brand manufacturers have Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, and the lowest price of retail channels in the United States has reached about US$10.97. This is an indicator phenomenon.

As for Japan, prices in June showed a slight decline of about 1.9%, and the average price reached 20.6 US dollars. The average price of goods that replaced 40W in the UK fell by 0.3%, which was mainly due to the decrease in the average price caused by the exchange rate increase. The original commodity prices in the region fluctuate slightly, and new products in the market increased. In addition, prices in South Korea fell slightly by 0.5% in June, and the average price reached US$15.8. The prices of the original commodities remained basically stable, mainly due to the rise in exchange rates, which led to a drop in prices, and no new items appeared in the region.

Replacement of traditional 60-watt incandescent bulbs, stable prices, fewer new items

In lieu of 60-watt incandescent bulbs, LED bulb products showed a slight decline in the global average price of 2.3% in May, with an average price of US$32.7. The fluctuation of commodity prices in various regions was relatively small and basically showed a slight downward trend. There were fewer new items in the market. Prices in the United States and Germany showed 5.6% and 4.2%, respectively, and the price of 60 watts was steadily declining. The average price in the United States reached US$27. It is currently the lowest average price of goods in place of 60W. In the UK, the price change in June was less obvious, showing only a slight decline of 0.4% to reach 39.9 US dollars. There was no change in the original item price of the 60-watt LED bulb replaced by the Korean region, which caused the overall price to fall as the exchange rate of the Korean Won rose. In addition, prices in Japan rose slightly in June, about 0.5%. The real commodity prices in the region have been steadily declining, but prices have risen due to the exchange rate decline.

Starting in February 2012, the number of products that meet the quality and technical standards in the market is gradually increasing. National manufacturers gradually tend to improve product performance or add new features, and have launched high-performance or light bulbs with new features. These high-priced, high-performance new products have led to the average price of LED bulbs rebounding or maintaining stability in the past few months. From June to June, the rate of increase of new products in all regions slowed down, while the prices of original items continued to decrease, making the global average price show a slight downward trend.

International LED bulb market is gradually tending to benign development, from the initial simple price competition, to today's pursuit of cost-effective upgrade. It is expected that after a period of adjustment and volatility, with the promotion and popularization of cost-effective products, and the further stable price decline, the LED bulb market is expected to enter a mature state.
