The LED display with high brightness characteristics can clearly display image text even when the daytime is full of light, and it has always been the best platform for large outdoor advertising. But this feature sometimes brings distressing problems and light damage. For example, in Figure 1, there is an LED display on the left side of Milan Cathedral, as shown in Figure 2. The LED display does not feel glaring during the day. However, at night, after the ambient light is dimmed, if the LED display is not synchronized to reduce the brightness and still maintain the same brightness as during the day, in Figure 3, we can see that there is a strong blue light on the left side of Milan Cathedral. When you look closer, the brightness of the LED display is quite glaring, making it impossible to look directly, as shown in Figure 4.
Recently, several major cities in China, such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, have proposed relevant regulations to regulate the brightness of LED displays to avoid health problems caused by glare. Among them, Shenzhen's "Shenzhen Outdoor Advertising Management Measures" is to explicitly set "electronic display advertising, which should meet the requirements of urban lighting management and electronic display brightness control standards, install brightness adjustment devices, scientifically control brightness and use time. ("Article 36)
