Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. introduced a new generation of P-channel high-side load switches with a rising slope control feature—SiP32458 and SiP32459. These devices are designed to operate within a wide voltage range of 1.5V to 5.5V, making them ideal for a variety of power management applications. One of the key features of these switches is the integrated gate pump, which ensures a stable 20mΩ on-resistance while keeping the quiescent current extremely low. This combination allows for improved efficiency and longer battery life in portable systems.
To further enhance performance, the SiP32458 and SiP32459 offer different on-resistance values depending on the supply voltage. At 1.5V and 1.8V, they provide 30mΩ and 26mΩ respectively, while at 3.3V and 5V, the on-resistance drops to 20mΩ. Both models support continuous currents up to 3A, and their ultra-low quiescent current of just 4.2μA makes them perfect for battery-powered devices that require long operational life. When disabled, the SiP32458 includes a reverse blocking circuit to prevent unwanted backflow, while the SiP32459 integrates an output discharge switch for rapid load discharging.
The compact WCSP6 package (1mm x 1.5mm) with a 0.5mm pitch is ideal for space-constrained designs. It also offers enhanced mechanical durability due to its top-side lamination. Additionally, the load switches use a lower input logic threshold, allowing direct connection to low-voltage I/O pins without the need for external level shifters or gate drivers. An integrated 2.8MΩ pull-down resistor on the EN pin ensures reliable operation by preventing floating states during system startup.
These load switches are well-suited for a wide range of applications, including smartphones, GPS devices, digital cameras, media players, notebooks, tablets, gaming consoles, medical equipment, and industrial meters. They are RoHS compliant and free from halogens, ensuring environmental safety and compliance with global standards.
