In September 2017, Cypress Semiconductor Corporation, along with its authorized distributors Fuchang Electronics and Murata, launched the Nebula IoT Development Kit. This innovative platform is designed to empower developers to quickly create and deploy their own IoT ecosystems by leveraging seamless cloud connectivity.
The Nebula development board features wireless connectivity powered by the Murata 1DX module, which is based on Cypress's CYW4343W Wi-Fi and Bluetooth/BLE combined SoC. This combination provides a powerful foundation for building smart, connected devices.
The SoC in the 1DX module includes a 2.4 GHz WLAN IEEE 802.11 b/g/n baseband/RF and supports Bluetooth 4.2. To enhance performance and reduce costs, it also integrates a high-performance power amplifier (PA), a low-noise amplifier (LNA) with industry-leading receiver sensitivity, and an integrated receive/transmit (iTR) RF switch. These features make the module ideal for compact, high-performance IoT applications.
Developers can use the Cypress WICED® Studio platform to build a wide range of applications. The Nebula development board offers four different interfaces—Arduino™ compatible expansion boards, mikroBUS™ sockets, Pmod™ connectors, and USB—enabling easy integration with STM32F429 peripherals. This flexibility allows developers to create custom IoT solutions tailored to specific needs.
Each expansion board is designed for a particular application, such as motor control or environmental sensing, and comes with built-in wireless connectivity. This makes the Nebula board highly scalable and user-friendly, especially for those looking to expand their projects easily.
