Huazhong University of Science and Technology Xilinx Open Source Hardware Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

On November 22, 2015 , Huazhong University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as “Hua Ke”) and FPGA chip supplier Xilinx, Xilinx global education market partner DIGILENT Co., Ltd. (Chinese name “Di Zhilun”) and China distribution partners The 2015 Huazhong University of Science and Technology Xilinx Open Source Hardware Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (DIGILENT Campus Cup) was officially launched. The competition was led by Huake Electronic Information and Communication Institute. DIGILENT China Ltd. was named as the exclusive global partner of Xilinx in the education market.

More than 350 students from various colleges including the School of Telecommunications, Optoelectronics College, and School of Medicine attended the opening ceremony of the competition. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Wang Xiaoyan, Director of the Electrical and Electronic Experiment Center. Professor Tong Wenqing, the vice president of the School of Telecommunications, delivered an important speech. Mr. Li Yucheng, General Manager of DIGILENT China Ltd., and Mr. Chen Junyan, General Manager of Elemental Technology Co., Ltd. attended the opening ceremony. The event was themed on the topic "Changes and Trends in the Instrument and Semiconductor Industry in the Internet Age" and "Learning FPGAs and Future Career Development".

Huazhong University of Science and Technology has always attached great importance to the cultivation of engineering innovation talents. The Electrical and Electronic Experiment Center is the first batch of national experimental teaching demonstration centers in China. It is also the cradle of future engineers' practical ability cultivation in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. This competition relies on electronic circuit design and The test course adheres to the training mode of theoretical learning-hand-practice-innovation and entrepreneurship seamlessly, realizes the combination of lessons, combines theory and practice, crosses the interdisciplinary integration, fully mobilizes students' enthusiasm and initiative, and will bring the industry's first-class FPGA technology. Introduced in the classroom and competition, the main platform used is DIGILENT's Xisilx FPGA-based Basys series kit. Huake has a long-term and good cooperative relationship with Xilinx and DIGILENT, including the Electrical and Electronic Experiment Center. It is one of the first-class universities in China that uses the DIGILENT platform. The campus cup competition has been held through school-enterprise cooperation since 2012. Since this year, it has continued to the third year, and its scale has increased year by year, and it has been well received by teachers and students. And this year's competition fully responded to the call of "mass entrepreneurship, innovation", with open source sharing, innovation and entrepreneurship as the theme.

The successful opening of the competition once again demonstrates the continuous investment and support of Xilinx, DIGILENT and Yixiang Technology for domestic engineering education, and will further promote Huazhong University of Science and Technology based on the Xilinx platform in the future.
