Ultra-realistic interactive climbing Everest VR experience landing Oculus Rift from Baidu VR

Eight months after its initial release on the HTC Vive platform, Everest VR developed by Solfar Studios remains one of the most visually stunning VR works on the platform. The game's scene is made up of more than 300,000 real photos. On the Steam platform, you can't find any more real interactive content on Everest. Recently, the work also landed on Oculus Home. The price is $14.99.

Tor Gunnarsson, development director and co-founder of developer Solfar Studios Studios, said that the Everest VR released on the Oculus platform also supports the Oculus Touch controller. According to previous reports from foreign media, the game's experience with the Oculus device was as smooth as its performance on the Vive platform. At the same time, the developers also stated that they will add some new content for the two versions. For the initial release, everyone feels that the content is a bit small, so any new content is a good thing for the players.

The new content is mainly focused on the God mode of the game. In God mode, players can look at the entire Mount Everest as if they were God. This is a very interesting experience. Developers are also adding new climbing roads for the experience, allowing players to experience epic mountaineering and, of course, adopting an instantaneous transmission mechanism. For example, the first ever climb of Everest was completed in 1953 by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. This route looks like a blue line around Mount Everest. Players can use the instant transfer mechanism to follow these routes. There are 18 lines in the game to experience.

The new additions to the God model include: Scale. Just like Google Earth's VR version, you can do this in God mode, and you can even present it in a 1:1 ratio if you want to experience it. It is also possible to climb from the base of the mountain in the size of an ordinary person and follow any route to climb Mount Everest. It is said that this model takes two hours to reach the top of the mountain.

Hillary and Norgay's route also includes a VR museum model, with presentations about their journey on both sides of the route, and the photos they took during the climb.

HTC Vive users don't worry, all these new contents will come to the HTC Vive platform with free updates. In addition to the Oculus Rift, developers also plan to bring this VR experience to the PSVR platform.
