UMC recently announced that it has obtained a 5.75% stake in Zhaoyuan Technology, a LED sapphire substrate plant through private placement, and together with Jingdian, it has become a shareholder of Zhaoyuan, and UMC has completed the “one-stop†layout in LED.

With the rising value of LED sapphire substrates, UMC's 100%-owned Hongcheng Venture Capital announced that it has acquired 2,500 shares of Zhaoyuan Technology at a price of NT$27 per share, with a shareholding ratio of 5.75%. Zhaoyuan has a 2-inch LED sapphire substrate as its main product, with a monthly capacity of 150,000 pieces. It has completed the research and development of 6-inch sapphire substrates. In the first seven months of this year, it recorded a revenue of 827 million Taiwan dollars, a substantial increase of 165.3% over the same period last year.
The self-adhesive fabrics are coated with PTFE and have a layer of silicone or acrylic adhesive. The silicone adhesive fabric have a continuous operating temperature range between -70℃ and +240℃. The acrylic adhesive fabrics serves from -40℃ and +150℃ while it offers a very high initial adhesive power and a excellent solvent resistance.
