Wireless communication technology "NFC" jointly developed by Philips, Sony and Nokia

Near Field Communication (NFC) is a new short-range wireless communication technology jointly developed by Philips, Sony and Nokia. Its operating frequency is 13.56 MHz and is identified by radio frequency (RFID) of 13.56 MHz. Since the development of technology, it has the same frequency as the currently popular non-contact smart card IS0 14443, which provides a convenient communication method for all consumer electronics products. NFC uses Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) modulation, and its data transmission rate is generally 106 kbit/s, 212 kbit/s, and 424 kbit/s. The main advantages of NFC are proximity, high bandwidth, and low energy consumption. It is compatible with non-contact smart card technology and has a wide range of applications in access control, public transportation, and mobile payment.

NFC is a short-range high-frequency wireless communication technology that allows non-contact point-to-point data transmission and exchange of data between electronic devices. Developed from contactless radio frequency identification (RFID), compared with the more widely used Bluetooth technology, NFC is more convenient to use, lower cost, lower energy consumption, and faster connection establishment, only 0.1S is needed. . However, the use distance of NFC is much shorter than that of Bluetooth, and some are only 10cm, and the transmission rate is much lower than that of Bluetooth.

NFC application scenarios can be basically divided into the following five categories:

1) Contact - Pass. Mainly used in conference admission, traffic checkpoints, access control, tournament tickets and so on.

2) Contact - Confirmation/Payment. Mainly used in mobile wallet, mobile and bus payment.

3) Contact - connection. This application can implement two NFC-enabled devices to achieve point-to-point data transmission.

4) Contact - Browse. Users can understand and use the functions and services provided by the system through NFC mobile phones.

5) Download - Contact. Through NFC-enabled terminal devices, GPRS/CDMA networks are used to receive or punish relevant information for access control or payment.

Extremely short distance contact between NFC devices, active communication mode is 20cm, and passive communication mode is 10cm, allowing information to be rapidly transmitted point-to-point between NFC devices.

The NFC device supports two communication modes:

1) Active mode. Both the target device and the initiating communication device have power and can transmit signals to each other in turn.

2) Passive mode. The device radio signal is initiated and the target device is powered by the electromagnetic field of this signal. The target is set to respond to the initiating device by modulating the electromagnetic field.
