**Introduction to BC95 Module**
The BC95 is a high-performance, low-power NB-IoT wireless communication module designed for a wide range of IoT applications. With its compact size of 19.9 × 23.6 × 2.2 mm, it’s ideal for devices that require small form factors, helping manufacturers reduce product size and optimize costs effectively. The BC95 is engineered to be compatible with the M95 module from the GSM/GPRS series, making it easier for developers to transition or upgrade their products without significant design changes.
Packaged in an LCC (Leadless Chip Carrier) format, the BC95 supports mass production using standard SMT (Surface Mount Technology) equipment, ensuring fast and reliable manufacturing. This design also enhances reliability, making it suitable for deployment in harsh environments. The module features ultra-low power consumption and high sensitivity, allowing it to operate efficiently even in weak signal areas.
With a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, the BC95 is well-suited for M2M (Machine-to-Machine) applications such as smart meters, smart cities, security systems, asset tracking, and agricultural monitoring. It provides robust SMS and data transmission services across various industries.
The BC95 supports multiple frequency bands, including BC95-B8 (900MHz), BC95-B5 (850MHz), and BC95-B20 (800MHz), offering flexibility for different regional deployments. Its LCC package includes 94 pins, and it operates on a supply voltage of 3.1V to 4.2V, with a typical value of 3.8V. The module weighs only 1.6g, making it lightweight and easy to integrate into various devices.
Equipped with embedded network service protocol stacks and support for 3GPP Rel-13 and enhanced AT commands, the BC95 offers advanced functionality. It can be programmed via UART or Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, providing convenience for remote management. Additionally, it supports eSIM integration, which will allow future collaboration with mobile operators and simplify user access.
Shanghai Mobile Communications has launched the first NB-IoT R13 compliant module, with plans to expand to other frequency bands like 1800MHz, 700MHz, 850MHz, and 800MHz in the future. The BC95’s pin layout is also compatible with the GPRS module M35, enabling seamless upgrades for existing systems.
In collaboration with China Unicom and Huawei, NB-IoT infrastructure is being expanded, especially in Shanghai, where LTE-NB networks are already deployed. Huawei’s wireless division has established open labs to test and promote new standard devices, accelerating the adoption of NB-IoT technology.
