Terrible my mother-in-law recorded her life

A few days ago, my mother-in-law passed away due to illness. While looking through her phone, I came across a collection of high-quality photos she had taken. It moved me deeply, and I wanted to honor her by sharing some of her work and memories with others. My wife’s mother has always been a vibrant, optimistic, and strong-willed woman. After marrying my wife over two years ago, I got to know her better. She loves traveling in her retirement, exploring different parts of the country and capturing beautiful scenery along the way. Last year during National Day, my father-in-law drove all the way from Shenyang, Liaoning, to Zhejiang Province, and we met in Ningbo to spend the holiday together. It was a joyful time for everyone. I noticed that she had previously asked me questions about photography—maybe things I had casually mentioned before. To her credit, she took notes and started learning on her own. She became quite skilled at understanding composition and even surprised me with how quickly she picked up the basics. When she first started taking photos, I suggested the Sony RX100M3 because it's user-friendly. In automatic mode, it produces great results, which made it perfect for her travel adventures. Over time, she began experimenting with different modes, like scene modes, which are easy to understand with their visual icons. One day, she asked me how to take pictures with a blurred background. I explained that using a large aperture would help, so I encouraged her to try the P mode and set the aperture to F2.8. I also introduced her to manual mode, explaining the basics of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. To make it easier, I shared some images from Pinterest and translated them for her. Surprisingly, she grasped it quickly. She later bought an iPhone 6S (after its battery died more than 2000 times from constant use). I taught her how to lock focus by long-pressing and then recomposing the shot. I also showed her how to adjust brightness by sliding up and down. She learned very fast and even signed up for an Apple workshop on photography. She found many features useful, especially those not commonly used by younger people. Sometimes she would shoot videos vertically, so I taught her to hold the phone horizontally to avoid dark edges in post-production. I also showed her how to use time-lapse photography and how to edit videos using iMovie on iOS. She attended an official Apple iMovie workshop and learned a lot. Apple released several short videos on iPhone camera tips, and I sent them all to her. Her skills improved rapidly. She now uses both the Black Card 3 and the iPhone 6S. She knows how to capture low-light scenes well with the Black Card and often uses the iPhone for panoramas. Sometimes, she even wirelessly transfers photos from the Black Card to her phone for sharing. Her photography skills have grown to the point where she can confidently use an SLR. I didn’t want to overwhelm her, so I bought her a full-frame A7 and took her on a lens trip. She even managed to take great shots with the 28-70mm lens. Unfortunately, the A7 doesn’t have a portrait mode, and the iPhone 6S lacked that feature too. So, during her illness, I gifted her an iPhone 8 Plus, and she was thrilled. In terms of her work, I’ve seen some amazing photos from her iCloud albums. Most of them were taken with the iPhone 6S, though a few might be from the Black Card 3 or A7. Here are some of my favorites: [Images of her work] My mother-in-law was a fierce and passionate woman. She will always live in my heart. May she continue to dream in heaven.
