Recently, with the official opening of BMW Brilliance New Dadong Factory, the new generation of BMW 5 Series Li has also officially launched. As the latest plant in the BMW Group's global production system, the New Dadong Plant is a forward-looking introduction of the “ Industry 4.0 ” system, which integrates innovative technologies, production equipment and technologies such as big data, Internet of Things, digital simulation and 3D printing. The perfect shape of the world's top punching machine aluminum body

The new Dadong factory stamping workshop is equipped with the world's top 10,000-ton 6-station servo press, with a maximum punching speed of 18 times per minute, which is the highest in its class. The stamping die has an accuracy of up to 0.02 mm and is only one-third of the diameter of the human hair. The ultra-high stamping precision is the guarantee of the new BMW 5 Series Li as a sculpture-like exquisite body waistline and three-dimensional shape. The press shop is responsible for the production of 33 new aluminum parts, including the four-door and two-cover, and the door-to-door is nearly 50% lighter than the previous model, making the new-generation model highly efficient and lightweight. Lighter weights result in better handling while also reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

The physical properties of aluminum cause the stamping resilience of aluminum sheets to be much higher than that of steel sheets, so the complexity of stamped aluminum sheets is also three times that of steel sheets. Through the digital twin technology, the stamping shop uses 3D computer simulation and scanning technology to overcome the challenges brought by the physical properties of aluminum and ensure the quality of aluminum sheet stamping. Through the recording and analysis of big data in the stamping process, it is also possible to carry out comparative monitoring in real time to ensure the high precision of the new 5-series Li body aluminum parts.

The latest generation of robots to create ultra-high rigidity and lightweight body

The body shop is equipped with 856 newest industrial robots , which use up to 18 connection technologies to create the ultra-high rigidity and lightweight body of the new BMW 5 Series Li. The new Dadong factory is the first in the world to use the arc-arc arc welding technology to enhance the welding joint strength and improve the efficiency of subsequent assembly. The hot-melt self-tapping screw technology is the first use of BMW in the Chinese factory. It is the most reliable and efficient way to combine the two materials of BMW body steel and aluminum; the door and trunk cover use the industry's leading contact laser welding technology, which is more ideal for the processing and control of solder joints, and the weld is finer. The curling is smaller and the welding strength is higher. The new 5 Series Li body uses more than 30 different materials, making the number of body joints reach an astonishing more than 9,500, far exceeding the previous generation of less than 6,000 solder joints, the complexity of the process can be imagined. The key anti-collision parts of the body, such as the B-pillar, use thermoformed steel with a yield strength of up to 1300 MPa. Even if the aircraft carrier is manufactured, the yield strength of the steel used is usually only 800 MPa. The safety of the new 5-series Li is unquestionable.

The new 5-series Li has a body length of 132 meters, which enhances the corrosion resistance of the body. Compared with the previous generation, the new generation models can reduce weight by up to 130 kg. The new body material composition and connection technology are indispensable, and the rigidity of the body is also significantly improved, resulting in better handling and safety. The body shop also uses a big data-based laser scanner that scans up to 20,000 points per second on the body, allowing technicians to perform deep quality inspections to ensure the superior quality of the new 5-Series Li.

Many of the leading technologies in the field of vehicle spraying, including rotary dip coating technology and integrated spray coating, are fully applied to the new Dadong plant. In view of the various materials of the new 5-series Li, especially the steel-aluminum body structure, the coating workshop adopts three-stage cooling oven technology to achieve precise temperature control, effectively overcome the different thermal expansion of steel and aluminum. Cold shrinkage effect.
