Coping with European and American Trade Barrier Foshan Launches China's LED Industry Carbon Footprint Research

Recently, Foshan held the first conference of green and low carbon development for thousands of entrepreneurs. The “China LED Industry Carbon Footprint Research” project was officially launched at the conference. The project will optimize the development of the industry and avoid international trade barriers by establishing a carbon label system for LED industry chains, so that the LED industry can keep pace with the development of advanced countries in the world.

Wen Shangsheng, a professor at South China University of Technology and president of the Central South Semiconductor Lighting Institute, said, “The carbon footprint is the total amount of carbon emissions in a product's entire life cycle. We study the carbon footprint and study whether a product has a low life cycle. Carbon, then get the corresponding carbon label."

The carbon footprint research is largely based on the pressure of “carbon barriers” in European and American trade. "At present, many LED products in China are exported to Japan and Europe and the United States, which leads to the problem of carbon contained in international trade products, which is the carbon footprint of international trade goods. The carbon footprint of international trade products has long been in traditional international trade research. China has been neglected. In recent years, climate change and environmental protection have received widespread attention from all walks of life in the international community, and the issue of carbon footprint has gradually received attention."

On the other hand, China has carried out pilot projects on carbon trading in six provinces and cities such as Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hubei and Guangdong. Carbon trading requires the establishment of carbon emissions data monitoring, carbon footprint and carbon label certification reports to ensure the quality of the goods traded, thereby facilitating fair trade. Carbon labeling and carbon footprint inventory can provide a basis for certification of carbon trading and an effective way to deal with trade barriers in Europe and the United States.

According to reports, the implementation and application of carbon label in LED industry can theoretically explore and establish China's LED carbon label system with independent intellectual property rights, and promote the healthy development of LED industry through organized, planned and scientific establishment and implementation of carbon label system. . In application, enterprises can actively use LED production carbon emission assessment technologies and methods to reduce carbon emissions of products or services and improve their competitiveness. At the same time, the application of LED carbon label can guide consumers' rational consumption concept and select products with lower carbon emission to achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change.
